Tests of the engine F100-PW-229 - realisation of the off-set obligations
On the 21st of September 2005 Mr. Louis R. Chenevert, the president of Pratt & Whitney, gave Military Aircraft Works No. 4 the certificate allowing to perform tests of engines type F100-PW-229.
The ceremony took place in the Rembertow location of the Military Aircraft Works No.4 and it was connected with the 80th anniversary of the existence of Pratt & Whitney as well as 30th anniversary of its operation in Poland. The ceremony was accented by presentation of the acceptance test of the first engine type F100-PW-229 delivered for Polish Air Forces.
Adaptation of the existing Aircraft Engines Test Cell, which allowed us to obtain the certificate, gave the Military Aircraft Works No. 4 position of the first and only company in Europe and the third company in the world authorised to perform the acceptance tests of engines F-100 being the propulsion of multi-purpose aircrafts F-16. The acceptance tests in the Military Aircraft Works No.4 will be performed for all the engines which will then be installed in 48 aircrafts F-16 manufactured for Poland in the company Lockheed in Texas and assembled in WSK PZL Rzeszów.
The investment of adaptation of the Aircraft Engines Test Cell to perform the acceptance tests
of engines type F100-PW-229 is the effect of realisation of the off-set obligations connected with the
F100 programme for Poland. But the Military Aircraft Works No.4 do not hide that the
main goal is to achieve position of the European testing center for the engines F100-PW-229, offering service
for all countries using the American F-16 aircrafts, with Greece among others.
